Wow! I'm actually in Italy!! I've wanted to go to Italy ever since I was little, and now, I'm finally here!! Early this morning my family and I left for Charles De Gualle airport, which is about thirty minutes outside of the city of Paris. Our flight to Florence, Italy was scheduled to leave at approximately 10:05am. After making it through baggage check and security, we waited a little bit in our terminal until boarding. Our flight lasted about two hours. We landed in Florence around 12:10pm. From the airport, we had a private car transfer to our hotel which is located right in Florence. After checking into our hotel, we went into the church that is right by the hotel. It was a beautiful church, just as most of the churches that I have seen in Europe.
Seeing that we did not eat most the day, we decided to get some real Italian food. I ordered Gnocchi and it was probably one of the best dishes of Gnocchi I have ever eaten. It was absolutely delicious! My mom and sister had regular spaghetti with tomato sauce and my dad had a steak. I can tell that I'm absolutely going to adore the food here in Italy. As for dessert, we walked to a Gelato (Italian ice cream) shop. Again, it was AMAZING!!! I think I'm definitely going to be eating a lot of Gelato during my stay here!
After dinner, we just walked around the city of Florence and did some shopping on the Ponte Vecchio bridge. My dad bought me a beautiful necklace pendant that was made in Florence. I can't wait to wear it!
We were told that tomorrow is "Italian Independence Day". The whole city is decorated with Italian flags and many of the buildings have red, green, and white lights shown upon them. As I normally say about things, "I'm ready to see what this whole Italian Independence Day thing is about". Well, my knee is absolutely killing me tonight so I will talk to you all tomorrow!!!
