Paris Day #6

Today was our last day in Paris as a group.  However, today was probably one of the most fun days I have had in the city.  Katie and I woke up around 7:00am and Rachel joined us for dinner around 8:00am.  We had two museums to go to for Gerry's art class.  We had to pick one work of art or something that interested us to report back on.

We first went to my assigned museum.  It was called Musee de Cluny and it was the Museum of the Middle Ages.  This museum was housed in a gothic style mansion and was built on the second century roman baths.  In the first room of the museum we went in, we found the most beautiful altar piece.  It was a woodcut and it depicted scenes from the birth and death of Jesus.  We also enjoyed the room that was filled with stained glass windows.  After visiting that museum, we stopped at Starbucks and we all had Caramel Macchiatos.  The was the first time I ever had one, and it was very good!!

We then took the metro to Trochadero where Katie's assigned museum was.  There was also an aquarium near Katie's museum.  Katie was assigned the French Naval museum.  When we first arrived, the museum was closed so we decided to go to the aquarium first.  On our way to the aquarium we saw the lookout that gave a straight on view of the Eiffel Tower.  We took some pictures there which including us jumping in front of the tower and us "touching" the tower.  After this little distraction, we headed towards the Paris Aquarium.  I must say that we were all excited to go to the aquarium.  Once at the aquarium, we acted like little kids.  We had so much fun taking random pictures and seeing all of the fish and sharks.  After our fun time, we headed to the Naval Museum.  This museum housed some life sized ship models and it also had many paintings of French Naval scenes.  In order to make this museum a little more exciting, we took some pictures that are very interesting to say the least.

We then met my parents and they took us to lunch.  The place were we went to lunch was delicious!!!  Katie then wanted to go see the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal.  So, my family and us three girls went to this chapel.  Once there, we bought some Miraculous Medals and we had a nun bless them for us.  We also got to see the incorruptible body of Saint Catherine Laboure.  After seeing this chapel, it was time for Katie, Rachel and I to get back to our hotel and figure out our presentation for Gerry that we had to do at 5:00pm.

The presentations for Gerry took about two hours.  Each person presented their museum.  After the presentations, Katie and Rachel helped me get my bags and we got a taxi to my parent's hotel.  Katie and Rachel headed back to their hotel and I stayed with my family.  My family and I headed towards the Eiffel Tower for a cruise on the Seine River.  It was very nice to see the city of Paris at night from the famous river that splits the city of Paris into two parts.

It is now officially spring break for 14 days!!! Tomorrow, my family and I have a trip planned to Versailles.  I'm pretty excited to see that!! On Wednesday, the four of us leave for Florence, Italy, our first destination in Italy.  I'll be sure to keep you all updated!!  Bonne Nuit!!
