Hello All! Day number three in Paris is complete. To start out our morning Kate, Jen, Morgan, Alicia, and I were gonna meet for breakfast at 8:30. Well, my alarm did not go off this morning and Jen and Alicia came to our room to wake Katie and me up. After that little mix up, we took the metro to Rue Rivoli to do some shopping. Alicia bought the cutest jacket and I got a couple of Paris souvenirs and some things for my friends back home. All of us then had to meet at the Louvre at 1:00 pm.

Mona Lisa Actual Size |
The Louvre was absolutely AWESOME!! I'm not a huge fan of art, but just the th0ought of being at the Louvre was amazing. While at the Louvre, I got to see the Mona Lisa! It may seem big in pictures, but in reality, it is really small. It is unique how the eyes of the Mona Lisa seem to be staring at you no matter where in the room you are. We stayed at the Louvre for about 3 hours when we then departed and took a walking tour of La Defense.

Arch De Defense |
La Defense is the industrial part of Paris, and the only place where you will find skyscrapers. However, skyscrapers in Paris cannot even compared to skyscrapers in USA cities such as NYC or Chicago. While walking through La Defense, we saw some interesting outside art pieces that were scattered around. After walking about La Defense for about an hour, we took the metro to the Arc de Triomphe. Encircling the Arc is a huge and very very disorganized round-a-bout leading onto the Champs de Elysees. This reminded me of my dad because I know how much he loves driving in round-a-bouts. I told Katie that I wish I could see him try to drive in this round-a-bout.

Arc De Triomphe |
Anyways, every day at 6:30pm, there is a ceremony for deceased unknown soldiers and the lighting of the eternal flame held at the Arc de Triomphe. Only certain people can actually "participate" in the ceremony, and we were invited to participate. To begin, we walked part of the Champs de Elysees towards the Arc accompanied by former French military personnel and also current French military personnel. We then gathered around the tomb of the unknown soldier. The ceremony consisted of placing flower bouquets on the tomb. Taylor and Brady presented the bouquet representing we students from SFU. It felt like such an honor to participate in such a humbling ceremony. That was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. I will never be able to do that again in my lifetime.
Well that is all for today! Mom, Dad and Samantha leave the USA tomorrow!!!! I'm getting soo excited to see them!!! I have another very busy day tomorrow, so good night everyone!!
